It's a chronic disease that sales teams have. Generally, we feel like we have to talk a lot during meetings with clients. While it's true that sales representatives lead the meetings, if they do all the talking, it's not really a meeting.

Meetings between clients and sales representatives should be a two-way conversation, a place for questions and answers. It's not a one-sided situation where only one party talks. Even if the client doesn't know much about our service, if the salesperson does all the talking, the client will become bored and tired.

At a minimum, the client should talk at least 60% of the time, even 6:4 ratio. Sales representatives need to introduce their products, but they only need to explain solutions that address the client's problems and needs. The most important thing is understanding the client's needs and problems and how to solve them.

Clients call sales representatives to solve their problems. Salespeople are busy, but so are clients. They've put aside their own work to schedule the meeting. If, in that meeting, they only hear the salesperson talk and not get their own needs addressed, how frustrating and regrettable would that be?

If I were the client, and the salesperson didn't ask me any questions or try to understand my situation, I wouldn't schedule another meeting. It feels like they don't care about me. In a blind date situation, if the other person only talks about themselves and doesn't ask what you like, who would enjoy that? Have you ever watched a show like "I'm Solo"? Have you noticed how the people who only talk about themselves are criticized by viewers? Reflecting on that should give you an idea why.

Everyone likes to talk about themselves, and no one likes to only listen. Maintain a balance, but the client should talk more than the salesperson. It's like Yoo Jae-suk's secret to popularity.
