It was nine years ago. I was preparing to become a football commentator. I started blogging in 2011, dreaming of becoming a football commentator. In the year I vowed to become a football person, someone told me I looked remarkably like someone else. That person was Koo Ja-cheol.
That was my goal. Many people told me I resembled Koo Ja-cheol. I felt great at the time. At that time, Ki Sung-yueng and Koo Ja-cheol were considered the leading figures of Korean football, and I looked like one of them. He was also a very handsome player.
So, in 2015, I went to Germany on a student exchange program, where Koo Ja-cheol was playing. To become a football commentator, I wanted to directly watch German football matches featuring Korean players, study, experience the culture, and especially meet my doppelganger, Koo Ja-cheol.
I actually went to watch an Augsburg match, where Koo Ja-cheol played at the time, and took a picture with him. I went through a lot of hardship to achieve this goal.
I attended a TOEIC academy for a month and studied for three months to achieve the required score. I worked two jobs for several months to earn living expenses in Germany. I applied to several scholarship foundations and received support from one.
I overcame those difficult times and achieved my goal. For three months, I went to three home games. I actually subtly asked him, \"I heard I resemble you, don't you think we look alike?\", but I didn't get any response.
He, my goal, has now announced his retirement. I still can't forget his shout of \"Why Why\" at the 2012 London Olympics. A hero who gave me precious experiences and memories. I want to thank him and tell him he did a great job.
