Aspiring to join an IT company, my coffee chat with Mr. Junseok Im on LinkedIn ignited my dream of working overseas.
Mr. Junseok's passion for working at a global company and his forward-thinking approach to customer service were inspiring, further fueling my desire to work in Singapore.
This positive interaction with Mr. Junseok has increased my interest in LinkedIn and my determination to pursue international opportunities.
After my soccer commentary days, my future dream was to join a renowned IT company. It was an honor to have a coffee chat with Junseok, who achieved that dream and joined his dream company!
I decided to leave soccer commentary behind and become a full-time employee. I was late in thinking about which company I wanted to go to and what I wanted to do, but the answer I came up with was an IT company. At that time, when I thought of IT companies, it was companies like Facebook (Meta), Google, and Microsoft. My eyes were on the sky; I only considered top-tier, huge global IT companies.
These days, LinkedIn feels like that kind of company to me. LinkedIn, which has been acquired by a top-tier company and possesses strong network power, has become one of the companies I want to work for. I was so happy to get to know Junseok, who works at LinkedIn, and have a coffee chat with him.
Junseok has been living in Singapore for a long time and has built a career at a global company. He is relatively young, but he has a lot of interest and passion for his work, sales, and a strong desire to do well. He was pondering how to meet customers and sell services, and how to generate new customers.
Since we were in similar situations, albeit in different industries, I could feel a strong sense of kinship. It seems that selling the services of a global platform to Korean customers isn't easy. However, instead of just complaining, he was thinking about how to improve, which moved me. I think I need to learn from that mindset.
Recently, I've been seeing posts by Junhyuk, who works at Dropbox, and my desire and interest in working in Singapore have been growing. Junseok also works in Singapore, and when he asked me if I had any thoughts about working overseas, I was very tempted. Of course, if I get the chance, I'd love to try it out.
It was a very enjoyable meeting, and I hope we can meet offline again in the future with a good opportunity and connection. HR professionals who are interested in LinkedIn, please reach out to Junseok!
