In the final part of the model, there is advice from Salesforce's chairman, Marc Benioff. It is, "Do everything as if you were the CEO."

I'm not even the president, the company isn't mine, and I only receive my salary. I come to work at 9 a.m. every day and work overtime. How can I act as if I own this company?

It's advice that seems to understand the woes of office workers. However, I strongly agree with this statement. Although it's not a company I started or own, it is my current organization. I must pour my labor and time into my organization to create added value, and through that, I receive the corresponding reward of money. To consistently and successfully go through this process, I must act as if I own this company.

Of course, even if I think of it as my company and suggest changes here and there, it can be frustrating when they don't work. So, I go back to being an ordinary office worker with the thought, "It's not my company."

However, just because you're the boss doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. You need to listen to your employees, accept their input, and act on what needs to be done. If you do things your own way and employees leave, that's a problem too.

I need to know my work best. And I need to have expertise in my work. Even seemingly insignificant tasks require more time and effort if you don't strive for expertise.

I am in charge of laundry at home. I am a member of the household, but when it comes to laundry, I am the head of the household. I know best when and how to run the washing machine, which clothes go in the dryer, and which clothes should go on the clothesline. Unless there's a problem with the washing machine, I can achieve satisfactory laundry results.
