I attended a session on LinkedIn where Tae-seop Ryu, CEO of MyonClub, gave a presentation on the topic of 'Finding Your True Self' and promoted the event. His words resonated deeply with me, providing much inspiration and gratitude.
Actually, I've been interested in self-discovery since my college days and have frequently attended related classes. Specifically, during my final year of university, I attended lectures at another university (Kyung Hee University, Suwon Campus), and the classes and professors there truly transformed my life. I still maintain connections with them. Even back then, we discussed 'finding your true self' extensively, and encountering the same topic here rekindled my passion.
The speakers were all prominent figures on LinkedIn and within their respective communities. The event began with a keynote speech by Jun-su Jeon, who shared his perspective on the definition of 'finding your true self'. Essentially, he emphasized that we must strive for contribution in our careers, maturity in our growth, and evolve from being mere 'FIRE' enthusiasts to role models. He also explained that 'finding your true self' involves cultivating one's strengths, pursuing a life with purpose, and persevering with determination.
Personally, I also focus on enhancing my strengths rather than compensating for my weaknesses. I intend to continue developing my true self by maximizing my inherent advantages. And, of course, I'll also work on improving some of my shortcomings.
Following Jun-su Jeon's speech, Hong-jun Jo took the stage. His story about stumbling into opportunities while simply enjoying himself struck a chord with me. I was surprised and envious to hear that so many possibilities arise simply from engaging with professionals and having fun. I realize I need to prioritize interaction with people and cultivate a joyful approach in my work and life in general.
Yu-ri Kim, CEO, shared her personal story, which was quite courageous to reveal. It wasn't easy for her to be so candid in front of strangers, and I deeply appreciated her vulnerability. Her sharing provided me with valuable insights and motivated me to embrace courage and make changes in my life. I learned from her example to have the bravery to leave behind environments that no longer serve me.
Jae-il Byeon is an extraordinary individual, as many of you know. Despite being a college student, he has built a strong network and established a significant presence on LinkedIn. I often find myself reflecting on his achievements and wondering why I didn't do the same when I was younger – it's inspiring and admirable. His presentation style was refreshingly unique, and I particularly appreciated his thoughtful gesture of placing his business cards on the attendees' chairs.
Goo-hwa Kim shared her career journey, which exuded immense pride. She started her career in architecture but unexpectedly found herself in HR and has continued in that field ever since. Her story about 'Sapa' and her unique definition were incredibly creative and insightful. Her words, 'I used to envy others and not appreciate what I had,' resonated with me deeply because I've felt the same way. I realize that I need to cultivate a mindset of less envy and more gratitude for what I have.
Finally, Mi-il Jang gave her speech. She started in engineering, transitioned to HR, ventured into sales, and eventually returned to the world of HR. Throughout her career, she's experienced multiple turning points, yet she continues to build on her experience. Her approach to life, where she walks her own path rather than following the conventional route, is impressive. She also highlighted the common dilemma of those who graduate from prestigious universities and join large corporations but find themselves unsure of their next steps. I wholeheartedly agree with her perspective. I believe that pursuing work that aligns with our true values fosters a healthier and more fulfilling life.
I have many stories of my own and would have loved to share my own journey of 'finding my true self'. If given the chance, I'd love to share my experiences and I'll continue to work diligently to cherish and honor such opportunities.
I'm grateful to Tae-seop Ryu and his amazing team for organizing this wonderful event, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to meet individuals I previously only knew through LinkedIn. I also want to express my gratitude to the new connections I've made, and I hope we can continue to build positive relationships in the future!
